what our most recent graduates are doing
Melissa completed her undergraduate double major in Business Management and Animal Sciences with an Equine specialty at the University of Florida in 2017. While at UF, she coached their Horse Judging Team. Melissa currently lives in Cincinatti, Ohio with her dog, Pepperoni, and works in a management position at Amazon.
Ahnna graduated from Indian River State College with a Business Administration degree. She and her husband, Elias, are owner-operators and trainers at Sherwood Farms. Ahnna was the 2014 Florida Horseman of the Year award recipient.
Caroline graduated with high honors from the University of Florida with a degree in Animal Science, specializing in horses and beef cattle. She works as a Cowgirl in Saint Cloud, Florida for Deseret Cattle and Citrus Company, the largest cow and calf operation in the country. Caroline is a well rounded horsemaster but has a passion for trick riding. She volunteers with the Wounded Warrior Project by taking horses to veterans, which benefits them both physically and emotionally. Caroline was the 2015 Florida Horseman of the Year award first runner up.
Katie is senior, majoring in Animal Science with an Equine emphasis and Agriculture in Consumer Services and Sustainability at the University of Florida. Subsequently, she completed an internship at the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas, where she worked at the Equine Reproduction Unit, dealing in all aspects of reproduction, from shipping samples to birthing. Katie was the 2016 Florida Horseman of the Year award recipient.
Tori is majoring in Business in Agriculture at Indian River State College and is working as an assistant for Alderman Veterinary Services. After graduation, she plans to obtain her Veterinary Technician Certification. She continues to show her three-year-old Quarter Horse gelding at AQHA shows.
Amelia is majoring in Digital Media and Journalism at Liberty University, where she has ridden on the equestrian team, serves as a community group leader, and plays in the orchestra. She is considering pursuing a masters degree in Strategic Communications following graduation. Amelia was the 2021 Florida Horseman of the Year recipient and the 2020 Florida Horseman of the Year first runner up.
Having received her Associates degree from Indian River State College, Emma plans to go on to major in Occupational Therapy at Daytona State College. She is currently working as a physical therapist technician with Premier Physical Therapy. Her 4-H breed stock projects have become successful, reproductive, prospering assets to her family’s cattle business. Emma was the 2021 Indian River County 4-H Foundation Scholarship recipient.
